A solar vehicle is an electric motor vehicle powered entirely or extensively by direct solar energy. Generally, photovoltaic (PV) cells enclosed in solar panels translate the sun’s energy directly into electric energy. The expression “solar vehicle” typically implies that solar energy is used to muscle the entire or fraction of a vehicle’s propulsion. Solar power may be also used to supply power for connections or controls or other supplementary functions.
Solar vehicles are not sold as practical day-to-day transport devices at present, but are chiefly expression vehicles and engineering exercises, frequently sponsored by government agencies. However, indirectly solar-charged vehicles are widespread and solar boats are accessible commercially.
Solar cars depend on PV cells to change sunbeams into electricity to drive electric motors. Unlike solar thermal energy which converts solar energy to heat, PV cells directly switch sunlight into electricity.

Solar cars unite technology generally used in the aerospace, bicycle, substitute energy and automotive industries. The design of a solar car is severely limited by the amount of energy input into the car. Solar cars are built for solar car races. Yet the best solar cells can only collect limited power and energy over the area of a car’s surface. This confines solar cars to a single seat, with no freight capability, and ultralight composite bodies to save weight. Solar cars lack the safety and convenience features of conventional vehicles.
Solar cars are time and again fitted with gauges and/or wireless telemetry, to cautiously observe the car’s energy utilization, solar energy capture and other parameters. Wireless telemetry is characteristically favored as it frees the driver to focus on driving, which can be hazardous in such a small, lightweight car.As an alternative, a battery-powered electric vehicle may use a solar array to recharge; the array may be attached to the general electrical distribution grid.
After a deep discussion of solar cars and its mechanism, I am interested to show you some beautiful solar energy powered cars. I am sure you will enjoy it. Watch and comment.
